Manouch Amel
B.Sc. Kin, CSCS, NCCP, EPIC Evaluator, Functional Capacity Evaluator
Owner & Head Kinesiologist
Manouch has owned and operated Mountainview Kinesiology for 11 years. In 2010, he opened Mountainview Welllness to help address patient needs in New Westminster.
As a practicing Kinesiologist he is a member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). He completed his Bachelor Degree in Applied Science (Kinesiology) at Simon Fraser University in 1996. Manouch has obtained a number of different certifications, namely his CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) and NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program).
Manouch is also an EPIC Evaluator which is a progressive test of lift capacity, specifically to evaluate persons with medical impairments. As well, he is a Functional Capacity Evaluator which provides Clinical Rehabilitation and Return to Work Programs. This process includes Ergonomics as well as Disability Management and Case Coordination.
Manouch has further specialized in motor vehicle accidents (MVA), Aqua Therapy, Core Stabilization and Strength/Weight Training.
Iman Tootoonchi, B.Sc., Kin
Practicing Kinesiologist
Iman is a registered Kinesiologist with the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). He obtained his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University and has been involved in rehabilitation and strength training since 2004.
He specializes in motor vehicle accidents (MVA), back to work programs, sport rehabilitation, aqua therapy, core stabilization and strength/weight training programs. As every injury is specific to the person, Iman designs specific programs so clients get optimal benefits from their exercises.
Iman is fluent in English, Spanish & Farsi, so clients can feel comfortable conversing with him in any of these languages.
Cara Oliver, B.Sc., Kin
Practicing Kinesiologist
Cara is a practicing Kinesiologist member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK ). Since completing her Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science (Kinesiology) at Simon Fraser University in May of 2000, Cara has specialized in motor vehicle accidents (MVA), Return to Work programs, Aqua Therapy, Core Stabilization and Strength/Weight Training programs. She has taken numerous core stability and muscle imbalance courses and is certified as a Functional Capacity Evaluator (ARCON). Additionally, she has experience volunteering in sports medicine and Healthy Heart-clinics. Cara continually upgrades through workshops and frequently reviews literature detailing new developments in kinesiology. Cara is a dynamic, caring professional with practical/achievable solutions to educate, support and empower individuals in health care prevention, rehabilitation and healthy lifestyle choices. Cara leads a healthy and active lifestyle that includes jogging, weight training and aerobics workouts.
Sara, B.Sc., Kin
Practicing Kinesiologist
Sara graduated from Simon Fraser University with bachelor degree in Science (Kinesiology) and Health and Fitness studies certificate. She is a registered Kinesiologist with the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). She has specailized in motor vehicle accidents (MVA), core stabilization, and strength/weight training. She is fluent in Farsi. On her spare time, she enjoys activities such as biking, hiking and playing vollyeball.
Ezra Teh, B.Sc., Kin
Practicing Kinesiologist
Ezra graduated from Simon Fraser University with a major in Kinesiology, and currently leads fourth year kinesiology students in tutorials. His drive to educate students and help people through kinesiology make him an inspiring practitioner in the field. This aspiration is evident through his love for sports from being the trainer for the Coquitlam Junior Adanacs to being a tennis coach.
Stefanie Kapko, B.Sc., RD
Dietitian
Stefanie is a Registered Dietitian and nutrition consultant. She received her Bachelors Degree with honours in Human Nutrition Sciences from the University of Manitoba and is a member of The College of Dietitians of British Columbia and Dietitians of Canada.
Stefanie specializes in program planning for healthy weight loss and also has experience working with diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, heart health, eating disorders, sports nutrition, and general healthy eating. Stefanie has experience facilitating nutrition workshops, presentations, and nutrition tours at grocery stores.
Stefanie has also worked as a pharmacy assistant for the past 12 years. This experience brings an increased knowledge of prescription medications and their impact on your diet and overall health.
Stefanie is passionate about food, nutrition and health. She truly enjoys sharing her knowledge to help people improve their lives. Whatever your nutrition concern may be, Stefanie would be happy assist you in establishing and reaching your goals towards a healthier you.
Herbert Sum, B.Sc., MPT, MCPA
Physiotherapist
Herbert received his Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Western Ontario, and is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and its Orthopedic Division. Prior to his physiotherapy training, Herbert had completed a major in Molecular Biochemistry at Simon Fraser university and graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science. To advance his clinical skills and knowledge, Herbert regularly attends workshops and courses on functional rehabilitation.
Recently, he has successfully completed the Level 1 Manual Therapy examination, and also participated in the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute's Part 1 course. He is currently advancing these certifications as well as beginning Mackenzie and Mulligan technique courses.
In the past few years, Herbert has also provided physiotherapy services at various international sporting events. Outside of physiotherapy, Herbert has experience in competitive dragonboating, kayaking and ice hockey.
Marilyn Abel, B.Sc., Kin, MPT,
Physiotherapist
Marilyn is a practicing Physiotherapist registered with the College of Physical Therapists of B.C. In addition, she is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and the Physiotherapy Association of B.C. She obtained her Masters of Physical Therapy from University of B.C. and her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from University of Calgary.
Prior to becoming a Physiotherapist, she worked as a Kinesiologist in a sports medicine clinic. Marilyn's work with New Westminster's diverse population contributes to her experience and enjoyment as a practitioner. She is excited to work in a multidisciplinary clinic, as she feels they provide a great approach to client care.
Marilyn values the advancement & maintenance of her skills and has completed Level 1 Manual Therapy; she's currently pursuing her level 2 designation.
In her spare time, Marilyn participates in a variety of sports like basketball, soccer and tennis. She also enjoys traveling & music and enjoys trying new things.

David Lee, 李秀達, M.Sc. P.T., B.Sc. Kin.
Physiotherapist
David obtained his Master degree in Physical Therapy from Queen's University in Ontario. He is registered with the College of Physical Therapist of British Columbia and is a current member with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia. David's interests are in orthopaedic and sports injuries. He has taken post-graduate courses on Mulligan, soft tissue release, therapeutic taping and acupuncture AA1 course.
Prior to physiotherapy, he completed a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology (Active Health & Rehabilitation concentration) with a Certificate in Applied Human Nutrition and Co-op education. He has a variety of experiences working with motor vehicle accidents, work related injuries, cardiac rehabilitation and healthy population. In conjunction with his strong kinesiology background, David is able to provide exercise based rehabilitation along with hands on, evidence-based physiotherapy treatments for all his clients.
Outside of work, David enjoys playing basketball, volleyball, running and strength training during his leisure time.
Anders Lau, RMT
Registered Massage Therapist
A graduate of the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, Anders has experience in a variety of clinical settings including the VGH Burns, Plastics & Trauma Unit (BPTU) and the G.F. Strong Centre for Rehabilitation.
Anders has begun preliminary research into the effects of massage therapy on voice production and hopes to develop a treatment approach to help address and restore vocal function for singers and performers around the Lower Mainland.
Also, Anders is a volunteer with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets and serves as the Vice-Chair of the BC Choral Federation Youth Council.
Gael White, RMT, CCST
Registered Massage Therapist
Certified Cranial Sacral Therapist
Gael graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT) in 1992. Since then, she has practiced massage therapy throughout the Lower Mainland and has graduated from Langara College with a 244 hour certificate in Cranial Sacral Therapy.
She currently teaches for the West Coast College of Massage Therapy for their Outreach Program.
Adding Cranial Sacral Therapy to her massage therapy repertoire adds an entirely new and exciting field to her professional experience. In her spare time, you will find her walking, hiking, working with textiles or dancing.
Kurtis Thygesen, RMT
Registered Massage Therapist
A graduate of WCCMT in 2008. Kurtis has been practicing as a Registered Massage Therapist out of clinics in New West and Surrey over the last 2 years. He was awarded 2nd place in the MTABC's 2008 Case Study Awards for his study on Fibromyalgia Syndrome, a condition to which his mother has struggled with for years. It is for this reason his beliefs as a therapist revolve around treating the entire person and bringing homeostasis back into their body and lives. He attempts to do this through the use of many treatment modalities, his favourite of which being Myofascial Release combined with Trigger Point Therapy, Joint Mobilizations, Muscle Energy Techniques, Stretching, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Active and Passive Release Techniques, and Respiratory training. His therapy has been described as "hold till release" and is most useful in treating conditions such as rotator cuff injuries, Frozen shoulder, Carpal tunnel, Plantar fasciitis, and Scoliosis to name a few. He doesn't believe in the a quick fix, instead he strives to send patients away from their treatments improved and with the tools needed to help themselves over time with patience and persistence.
With his spare time Kurtis also volunteers with the Central City community volunteer bike patrol and does massage visits to Kinsmen lodge retirement community. As well, he is an avid bike rider and ball hockey player.
Dr. Henry Dent, DTCM, R.AC., BHS, CCHt
Dr. of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Registered Acupuncturist
Dr. Henry Dent holds a Bachelor of Health Science from Charles Stuart University. He is a graduate of the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is licensed as both a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Dr.TCM) and a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac.) with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners & Acupuncturists of British Columbia.
Henry has completed training in the NADA protocol for the treatment of chemical dependency and taken the Master of Hypnosis program of The Cross Roads Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy.
For the past 17 years Dr. Dent has been an avid Tai Chi Chuan (Yang style) and Medical Qi Gong practitioner.
